Pure Palm Sugar or palm jaggery is a natural sweetener that is unrefined and retains its vitamins and minerals, making it a healthier alternative to refined sugar. While Jaggery has been used for centuries, it remains relatively unknown. However, not all jaggeries are created equal. Many on the market are made from sugarcane, which is heavily sprayed with pesticides due to repeated cultivation, resulting in nutrient-depleted soil. On the other hand, jaggery derived from Palmyra palm flower sap offers a superior and sustainable option. Palmyra palm trees take about 15 years to start producing sap and can thrive for up to 100 years, making them an excellent choice for obtaining long-lasting and premium quality jaggery. Palmyra palm jaggery is highly prized as a sweetener because of its labor-intensive production process, nutritional benefits, and eco-friendliness.
What makes Khmer's palm jaggery so unique?
Our granulated jaggery is made from the sap of Borassus Flabellifer (Palmyra palm) flowers. Rich in vitamins and minerals, hand-harvested twice daily, 80 feet above the ground, and promptly processed it in small batches using our traditional Cambodian method. The soil and weather conditions in our Kampong Speu region give our jaggery a unique taste and aroma, earning it a protected geographical indication (PGI) from the World Trade Organization. Our unrefined palm sugar is not only rich in nutrients, but also free from gluten, artificial colors, preservatives, and anti-caking agents. While our rare jaggery is a healthier option, it is still a sugar. Consuming it in moderation is key to a balanced diet. NOTE: Our Pure Palm Sugar is certified organic by Ecocert in its country of origin. We chose not to pursue certification in the USA to avoid extra costs due to the new organic regulations. Our high-quality packaging shields the product from moisture, oxygen, and light, preserving the sugar's aroma and quality. Net weight is 1.1 LB or 500 g.
The pre-order promotion will end on April 26th, 2024, or upon selling out due to limited quantity, whichever comes first. As production occurs only once a year, once the product is sold out, it will be available again the following year.
